These are a solid pair of modern cut ( … or I guess ‘modern cut’ is actually a retro cut from the 1950’s) swim trunks. I am 6’3, 235 lbs. and based on the pictures of the model on the ad, I thought they’d come down a bit lower on my leg than they do. I got size 36 waist, which is my normal size in jeans and shorts and they fit fine … although not too much expansion room left in the waist. I’d say they fit on the trim side, if you are built thicker/stockier you may consider sizing up.

These don’t have hand pockets on the sides, or any pockets in the rear, which I am not used to. They have a very small velcro pocket on the side of the leg, which you could put some paper money, a credit card, keys or a few shells into. A wallet might be tight. I think I prefer side hand pockets and a rear sealed pocket, especially for resort wear.

The material is nice, although I certainly would not call it quick drying. This is especially true with the spandex style liner, which acts almost like underwear. It feels a bit odd when swimming, as if you jumped into the water with your clothes on. However, you get used to it and these are great for when you’ll be doing walking as the spandex chafes much less than mesh liners.

The one big issue I have with these is that the spandex liner is white. If you are a ‘tighty whitey’ guy, that likely won’t bother you. Not to be gross, because it happens to everyone … but after wearing these for several hours, you may see the dreaded ‘skidmarks’ appear in the rear of these. I feel like a black or navy blue liner would have been a much better idea, especially if you hang these outside to dry.

Overall, these are a nice pair of trunks. They wouldn’t be my first choice when swimming or going to the beach but they are very comfortable, despite their trim fit and I could wear them all day. Quality wise, they are made like a tank and if you prefer your trunks a bit trim and above the knee, if you are on the tall side, these are for you. I hope my honest review, video and pictures help you make an informed shopping decision. That’s my goal.
